This new five-day event will celebrate new Burnsongs, songs and songwriting, with a lively and varied programme of concerts and gigs from the Scottish music scene including jazz, rock, pop, classical and traditional performances, plus workshops, masterclasses and taster events.
Gigs include performances from:
Fred Freeman and the Merry Muses (Strictly for over 18s);
Aberfeldy with Geoff Martyn;
Sophie Bancroft and Niki King;
Karine Polwart and Band with Wendy Stewart;
The Fence Collective Showcase with King Creosote, the Deaf Mutes, The Pictish Trail and HMS Ginafore; and finally
The Big Gig! at Easterbrook Hall. With 15 burnsongs by unknown songwriters, selected by a panel of music experts and performed for the first time by the Musicians Union Band plus friends. Presented by musician and DJ, Vic Galloway.
The Burnsong Club is open from 9.30pm - 12.30am every night of the festival. There are also 2 song sharing afternoons with contributions from 8 singer/songwriters; a classical Song Salon with three young singers - students from the RSAMD, and other Burns / Scottish themed films, walks, and talks.
