Hackney Volcano 2001

Running for the second year, the Volcano Festival is a massive FREE, cross cultural event that brings together the best of music, performance and visual art from many different groups and genres, celebrating the creativity of an incredible melting pot of talent beyond the mainstream.

The whole festival is run by volunteers whose backgrounds are as diverse as the festival itself. There is not just one stage, just one sound system, just one music genre, just one art form, just one crowd of people. The Festival offers something for everyone, no matter whether you are into Hip Hop, Techno, Hardcore, Latin Vibes, Asian Underground, Reggae, Drum'n'Bass, Garage, Punk, House, RnB, Funk: Festival, Dance, Alternative or any of the many other music genres out there. If the music is not what you are after then you can indulge in some first class performance art; be it a side show, a trapeze act or one of the many other performances happening in our circus and cabaret area. New to this year is the ENVIROMENTAL area, the largest outside of Glastonbury, with 12 volt sounds, bicycle power and wood technology displays.There is also a kid's area, a fun fair and 100`s of food and clothes stalls. This event is the perfect example of mixing different styles and genres from a diverse cultural society, providing a platform for up'n'coming local talent alongside established acts.
