Each year MELTDOWN offers a guest director the chance to produce his or her own fantasy festival, mixing artists and art forms, reflecting their own personal passions and interests.

This year, the Artistic Director is Patti Smith, and the following events are now confirmed:-

Sunday 12th June (Queen Elizabeth Hall): Eels
Thursday 16th June (Queen Elizabeth Hall): An evening in homage to William Burroughs
Friday 17th June (Queen Elizabeth Hall): Yoko Ono
Friday 17th June (Royal Festival Hall): Rachid Taha with special guest Patti Smith & Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, support from Hank Williams III
Saturday 18th June (Royal Festival Hall): Songs of Innocence - Protest songs and Lullabies feat. Sinead O'Connor, Tori Amos, Beth Orton, Kristin Hersh, and Patti Smith
Saturday 18th June (Queen Elizabeth Hall): Billy Bragg
Saturday 18th June (Purcell Room): An Evening with Richard Hell
Sunday 19th June (Royal Festival Hall): Steve Earle & Patti Smith

Wednesday 22nd June (Queen Elizabeth Hall): The Coral Sea feat. Cat Power, Kevin Shields, and Patti Smith
Thursday 23rd June (Royal Festival Hall): Stand Bravely Brothers - A homage to Bertolt Brecht feat Marc Almond, The Finn Brothers, Antony, Martha Wainright, Tiger Lillies, The Dresden Dolls, Sparks, London Sinfonietta and Patti Smith
Friday 24th June (Queen Elizabeth Hall): Antony & The Johnsons
Friday 24th June (Royal Festival Hall): US / UK Folk Connections Feat. Lenny Kaye, Johnny Marr & The Healers, Bert Jansch, Robyn Hitchcock, Roy Harper and Patti Smith. Ballroom Floor: Tibetan bonpo Monks perform sacred masked dances
Saturday 25th June (Royal Festival Hall): Patti Smith performs Horses and The music of John Cale with special friends Flea, Nick Franglen, Terrie & Andy (The Ex), David Dramm, Dominic Blum, Lucas Niggli, Marino Pliakas as the Meatgrinders
Saturday 25th June (Queen Elizabeth Hall): Tinariwen and support from Yat-Kha
Sunday 26th June (Royal Festival Hall): Songs of Experience - the work of Jimi Hendrix and the music that inspired him feat Feat. Jeff Beck, Flea, Joanna Newsom, Balanescu Quartet, Yat-Kha and Patti Smith.
