Galloway's festivals may not have been heard of south of the border but they've been running twice-yearly celtic/roots/world music festivals in the hills of Scotland's Southern Uplands since 1998. The first World Ceilidh has germinated from the well known Ceilidh Gall Gallowa' Spring festival.

The first line-up details are now available, and includes Bellowhead, Eliza Carthy & The Ratcatchers, Kangaroo Moon, 3 Daft Monkeys, Baghdaddies, and more. Click here for full details to date.

Expect things like a Celtic fire spectacular; wind and solar powered cinema; street theatre; wind and solar powered sauna and hot showers; a healing yurt; workshops (many geared to kids), Greenwood Arts, circus skills, Tai Chi, belly dancing, celtic banner making and juggling. For children, the Kids' Marquee runs creative activities, culminating in a childrens' procession.
