Early entry Thursday

This year Kendal Calling will be opening up the campsite a day early. Please note this will include camping only plus the Village Green area, where a limited number of food outlets will be open plus an acoustic tent.

Beasts and Machines theme

The 'Beasts and Machines' theme is inspired by the Monstrous Garden and Riot Jazz areas, and sees woodland creatures turning intergalactic, as wild animals meet infernal machines, bringing with them Victorian mayhem in the wilderness.

The Get Loud in Libraries Stage will host live music on the Friday and be open for books, tea, cake and Rockanory (bedtime stories read by rock stars).Decorated out like a big front room, The Soapbox Stage returns with comedy, DJs and storytelling, and live burlesque.

The Ladybird area will return with a programme of performance and craft workshops for all with a different theme each day. The Happy Slap Circus are hosting a tent full of music, walk around performers, games masters and makeup artists, mustache musketeers hosting group games such as mustache Jenga and 'Pin the Mustache on the Freddy Mercury'.

Other entertainment includes the Animal Dance Master Championships, Rave Aerobics, Human Jukebox and Zebra Burlesque.

New for 2011

Kendal Calling have decided to branch out into the surrounding Woodlands for a brand new area to play host to twisted teddy's picnic by day and ravers paradise by night. The Monstrous Garden where fireflies come to life at nightfall, and strange animals prowl around high above. Come dressed as an ugly bug and join the parade of the weird and wonderful creatures of creation. Monstrous Garden will host the Kaylied Stage, offering on Saturday an Ugly Bug Hoe Down with Cut a Shine and inviting festival goers to dress up as insects and try some cricket hopping, dung and spoon race and more but watch out for the fly swat team.

Kids Area

For big kids and little ones alike, enjoy workshops on percussion making and music, movement and mask making, plus story telling and creative writing along with an array of games and activities running all weekend.

Family camping

For festival-goers bringing little ones, Kendal Calling has the all-new Emperors field. A camping area located in a quiet field away from the main campsite, near the main arena and offer a special pass to camp next to your car (available for £10). Set near the campervan field, the quiet family camping will have its own toilet facilities including showers & even a baby changing unit.

There will be more information here when available.
