As well as providing an amazing backdrop the telescope will also be serving a secondary purpose as the worlds most incredible projection screen! Throughout the day there will be experiments and workshops along with free access to the new visitor centre – and in the evening the acts will perform. Jodrell Bank is brought to you by the creative minds behind Kendal Calling festival, The Warehouse Project and Ear To The Ground. Times: Gates 4pm, activities from 4pm, music from 7.30pm. There is no age restriction.

Euro 2012

Live From Jodrell Bank will be screening England's quarter final tie against Italy in the European Championships in the Science Arena after a full day's activity. It is important to note that the match will not clash with Paul Weller's headline set or disrupt the running order of the day and is an added bonus for those who want to watch the match whilst not disturbing those who are there for the music.

The science

Before the spectacular evening concerts and throughout each day, attendees will be able to participate in a fantastic range of hands-on experiments and workshops on site at Jodrell Bank. With full access to the magnificent Discovery centre included in every ticket, this is a great chance to find out more about the mind-blowing research happening at Jodrell Bank. Explore the wonders of the universe and find out for yourself why stargazing has enjoyed a massive resurgence in the past few years.

The audience will also benefit from free entry to the Space Pavilion, Jodrell Bank's newly built visitors centre, until 5pm. Gig-goers will be able to take away printouts of live signals received by the Lovell Telescope, discover how hot or cold they are with the use of the centre's infra-red camera, see the astronomy picture of their birthday and listen to the sound of the Big Bang.

Highlights from the Science Arena include:
