The Ipswich Summer Arts Festival runs for nearly three weeks, from Friday 24th June to Wednesday 13th July. Over that time Ipswich aims to become the cultural focus for arts in the region, with a full programme of events from music and drama through to visual art, film, and literature by national and locally based organisations and artists.

Line-up

The first acts confirmed are Katherine Jenkins, Peter Andre, Soul II Soul, Billy Ocean, Gibson Brothers, Jocelyn Brown, and Al Murray.

One central event is The Music Day which takes place on Sunday 3rd July, a free family event, showcasing many acts on the local music scene, with six stages set in the surroundings of Christchurch Park and Mansion. This is expected to include plenty of activities for children, including a small fairground. Car parking will be free. The line-up for this is as follows:

Evening Star Stage: Walway, Eastown Pirates, Never A Hero, Derider, Takoma star, Alices Evidence, Angry Vs The Bear, and Darien Prophecy.

ICR/CSV Stage: We Can't Dance, Butterfly, The Sudden Injury, A Fate Untold, Underline The Sky, Waxing Captors, Electric Youth Revolt, This Boy Wonders.

BBC Radio Suffolk Stage: Buffalo Road, Ainslie's Vibes, Star Club, Special Guest (TBA), Soul Town Chic, Soul Kitchen.

Attitude Stage: Hot Fat, The Blank Page, Crumbs For Comfort, Benjamin Bloom, Bring Back Her Head, Millionaires By Morning.

Town IO2 Stage: The Reason, Crossover, 80*2*90, The B Goodes, United Reggae Band, Serenity Zest, Ideals, Saltdog.

Grapevine Big Top: Something Happened, Lydia Locklyear, Dragon Fruit, Silbury Hill, Flaming June, Kev Walford, Lucy Sampson, Ladybird & The Larks, Propersition, Jacknife Horsebox.

Tickets

Ticket prices have not yet been confirmed, and tickets are not yet on sale.

Other entertainment

There's no programme of events confirmed for the festival at the moment. There will be an eclectic mixture of attractions, performances and events that appeal to a wide audience. Dance, visual arts, poetry, music, theatre, literature, opera, and cinema, are amongst the 60 plus events on offer.

Spaces

As well as using the more traditional spaces, Ip-art takes exhibitions and performances into public buildings and spaces throughout the town. This colourful combination aims to include tradition, innovation and imagination within the arts in Ipswich.
