The dates for 2008 are confirmed as Friday 22nd to Monday 25th August.

Greenbelt is an all-age Arts Festival with its roots in the Christian faith and a welcome that's wide and inclusive. It's a place to learn, to experience, to be. It's like nothing else in the world, and that's what keeps thousands of people keep coming back year after year.

Greenbelt whose theme this year is 'Rising Sun' features a great range of music on 5 stages and showcases brand new artists and bands. In addition, the Festival hosts a selection of varied talks, workshop and debates; exploring contemporary issues, faith, social justice, politics ­and more.

Headlining on the opening night is Michael Franti and Spearhead. Also confirmed are Roll Jordan Roll - with Abram Wilson & The Delta Blues Project, Fightstar, Martyn Joseph, Anathallo, Starfield, and The Ian McMillan Orchestra, with [dweeb] and yfriday for the youth humanic 14-17 programme. Greenbelt has announced the first speakers on the bill who include Salley Vickers, Philip Yancey, Brian McLaren, Frank Schaeffer, Bev Thomas Lucy Winkett, Maggi Dawn, Niall Williams, Stephen Sizer, John Bell, David Dark, Gareth Higgins, Jonathan Kuttab, and Nigel Varndell.

Greenbelt also has a visual and performing arts programme including Linda Marlowe performing 'Believe', as well as exploring a variety of alternative worship styles, and runs a daily Children's Festival.
