a pair of tickets to Glastonbury Festival 2008

There's a pair of tickets for a lucky winner - just answer the simple question below!

With just one month to go, Glastonbury Festival has confirmed that anyone who registers for this year’s event will also be eligible to buy tickets in 2009 and 2010. Registration, which involves filling in a simple form and supplying a passport photograph, was introduced in 2007 to counter re-selling of tickets at inflated prices. Full details can be found at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk. Forms are available on line or at any branch of Millets. The deadline is 14 March.

Festival organiser Michael Eavis says: "We’ve got exactly one month to go until the registration period for this year’s festival tickets ends and it all seems to be going really well. We still think this is the best and fairest way to make sure that the tickets go to people who actually want to come to the festival, rather than touts."

Responding to concerns that young people may be given priority for this year’s tickets, Eavis says: "We’re only talking about a small percentage increase in the number of young people, which we’re aiming to do simply by having more telephone sales lines. That should give people with less sophisticated web gear a slightly better chance of getting tickets... But we’re certainly not excluding older people who want to come! Anyone who can endure and enjoy three years of bad weather on the trot, and wants to come back, deserves the utmost respect from me. I’m just trying to get more youngsters to have a go and get on board."

This year anyone who registers to buy tickets can tick a box to ensure that their details are also available for the 2009 and 2010 festivals. "We couldn’t do that last year because of data protection issues," says Eavis, "so unfortunately anyone who registered in 2007 will need to do so again this year." Tickets for Glastonbury will go on sale on 6 April, either on line or through a free phone call from a normal landline.
