Run by Michael Eavis (of Glastonbury Festival) for nine years, Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza is the new format for what used to be the "Classical Extravaganza".

Set in the grounds of Glastonbury Abbey, there have been many memorable performances. This unique event has grown in stature over the years and is already a high spot in the musical calendar of the South West.

It's a real occasion, with fireworks, lights, candelabra and picnics.

Joss Stone will be playing on Friday, with Nigel Kennedy, and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on the Saturday, and The Rat Pack 'Live from Las Vegas' will complete the weekend on Sunday.

The 2004 Extravaganza was perfect - the weather was fantastic, even the sunset excelled, the crowds were great, and the performances wonderful. Van Morrison performed from his extensive songbook, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra provided stunning entertainment accompanied by water fountains, giant screens and the now famous fireworks. Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra accompanied by the amazing Sam Brown and Ruby Turner, had the time of their lives, and turned Sunday evening into one massive party for all to enjoy.
