Travis
Pyramid Stage
23:00 Saturday 24th June 2000

Travis jumped on to the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night and played one of the best performances at Glastonbury 2000. They opened with 'All I Wanna Do Is Rock' which seemed to go down well with the crowd.

Their well known songs such as 'Writing to Reach You', 'Driftwood' and 'Coming Around' were sang both by the crowd and the band which is amazing to hear. Fran Healey must have been moved by the number of people singing his songs.

Fran Healey appeared relived after singing 'Why does it always rain on me?' as it failed to rain. I think he had been worrying that it would happened again to the dismay of the crowd.

During their set they did covers of 'Hit Me Baby One More Time' by Britney Spears and 'The Weight' by The Band. Their cover of Britney's hit was excellent and alot better than the orignal. Also they pulled 'The Weight' off superbly. An interesting use of slides occured during their performance of the song 'Slideshow'.

The question however is was Fran nervous, his strange babblings between songs hints toward it and the large number of Scot's (including myself) yelling at him to get on with it was amusing. A bizzare interlude followed when the band went off stage and appeared on the large screens doing press ups and sit ups.

Travis finished their set with 'Happy' which wowed the crowd that bit more. The band then came down to the front of the crowd and began to shake hands with the fans. I have yet to wash my hand since touching Fran.

All in all an excellent performance and a wonderful end to the evening for many a glasto guest.
