Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival 2000

Having read through a few of the other reviews posted on the site, I have to comment on the amount of complaints about issues that I feel are somewhat beyond Michael and the organisers control.

Firstly; I came along this year, after attending once before in 1995 (25th anniversary). Knowing that after the sunshine and fantastic atmosphere that that year had presented, beating it would be a hard job. Did it?... If it didn't beat it, it certainly came a very close second! Thank you Michael for (at a very small sum), giving people the chance to surround their senses with exhibition, colour, arts, wonderful food and drink, carnival, a chance to learn about things that matter and (by no means top of the list) see some great bands.

Yes, I was witness to some not so nice people throwing fists around and stealing others property etc, I cannot deny that it didn't have an effect on my time there. But as I read in someone else's review - you know these dangers are present and you either lock up your belongings or don't take anything of value. Short of giving all visitors a personality check we cannot blame the organisers for people with bad attitudes, the blame there lies with human nature.

It would be nice to try and tighten up on the amount of people getting in without tickets, I agree with the point that Saturday night was packed to the point of being almost a threat - but there are two sides to the valley at Glastonbury - and if you had looked up to the direction of the Green Fields, where, in my opinion the true Festival takes place, all those people that really don't understand what it's all about were nowhere to be seen.

We have a wonderful festival to be proud of, lets do everything we can to prevent it becoming too commercialised (it's amazing only 5 years ago The Sacred Space was fairly sacred) there are many of us who know what the true spirit of Glastonbury is, and it has got to be worth holding on to.....
