Jazzworld, Friday 25th June, 8:05pm

The first that hits you about Glastonbury '99 is the amount of people. Smiling, happy people all migrating in their own directions, all determined to make the most of the festival's glorious sunshine. On Friday evening, this sheer weight of numbers forged a path towards the Jazz World Stage, expecting much of what they'd come to expect from The Herbaliser.

Eddy Palmeira revelled in the late afternoon sunshine, mixing latino-jazz with new funk, carving a smooth path for The Herbaliser to take stage before a crowded field.

Mixing funky dance tunes from their new album, Very Mercenary with older Ninja Tunes classics, The Herbaliser took the audience through every emotion, leaving it ecstatic, breathless, and most of all, completely buzzing.

The Herbaliser's finest hour.
