Glastonbury CND Festival 1981
last updated : Mon 11th Nov 02

Now as a benefit for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, this is the first festival in the style of the current event, with Worthy Farm doing all the organising and booking the acts, and CND doing the publicity and selling the tickets.

The (old) permanent pyramid stage is built, which doubles as a cowshed.

Around 18,000 attend, with bands such as New Order, Judy Tzuke, Hawkwind, Gong, Ginger Baker,, Roy Harper, John Cooper Clarke, Taj Mahal, Rab Noakes, Supercharge, The Jazz Sluts, The Sound and Matumbi.
