All the usual suspects of the Manchester music scene are joining together in this electronic music and media arts festival including Tribal Gathering, Friends and Family, Club Suicide, Blood and Fire, Joe Zawinal at Bridgewater Hall, Snazzy Records Showcase, Phush and Hippocamp, Perfect at Contact, Beans on Toast Phonic Art, aLECTRO eCOUSTIC, Valentine Records present Dark Shores, Alison Crockett live, The Beards at The Official Great British Bearbash Party 2004, Burst Couch and a special Hive event in Liverpool to coincide with the festival launch.

The Futuresonic04 launch event explores the past and future of the DJ, using early recording technologies such as Phono Fiddles, cutting machines, old wax cylinder players versus cutting edge touch sensitive Koss pads, Teremins and laser harps.
A Turntable Remix is planned, celebrating 25 years of the Technics 1200MK2 deck. Several promotors are running Festival club nights and there will be a series of related happenings, workshops and talks.

Festival highlights include DJ-ing with laser harps, wireless-hotspot-tracking rollergirls with homemade computers and virtual street games.

There's also a rare UK Arrange And Process Basic Channel live set at the closing party.
