Camping, and Campervans

By Scott Williams | Published: Fri 14th Oct 2011

Camping at the festival is built into the ticket price and valid for the date/s on your ticket. The campsite opens at midday on Friday and must be vacated by midday Monday.

The camping area is usually a short walk from the car park, but in bad weather (like 2009) the cars are parked some distance from the site, and the festival puts on a tractor-trailer to take you to the site itself. Cars pulling caravans/trailer tents can drop off the vehicle in the live-in vehicle area, but must then be parked in the official car park.

There is a separate family/quiet camping area at the top of the site.

Camping is inside a secure fenced area. The same rules apply as for every festival: don't take what you can't afford to lose. Although they take every step possible to look after your camping gear whilst you are at EiiD, safety of valuables cannot be guaranteed. The festival has an extremely low crime rate, and makes every effort to ensure it stays that way.

Live-In vehicles

There is a separate area for caravans and campervans. You will need a live-in vehicle pass to use this. This area is quite large and the ratio of live in vehicles to tents is impressive, there are some impressive old school live-in vehicles here each year. Access to the arena is easy even in bad weather, although as it's on high ground it can get a little chilly at night.

Facilities

The festival has on-site toilets, water points, a café in the campsite, and even a handy 'village' shop.

Cooking & Fires

Open fires, candle flares, BBQ's (gas or charcoal) are strictly forbidden for safety reasons, as they are an extreme fire risk. You may use gas cookers – but please do this safely. Please make sure gas canisters aren't changed inside tents or caravans. Campers are allowed to bring their own alcoholic drinks to be consumed in the camping area although you might be prevented from taking it into the arena.

Tipi hire

There are tipis available to hire at the festival.

Off Site Accommodation

The festival is in the middle of nowhere and it's recommended for ease of travelling that festival goers remain on site.
