Download Festival 2006 review Tue 13th Jun 06 Relative newcomers Trivium have been on the rise recently, and this time they come to Donington with a new agenda - with every intention of sealing their place in rock stardom. Considering the young age and everything the band’s already achieved to being taken seriously as the next big thing, as it would appear they were against some unfavourable odds, the sky’s now the limit! Certainly not lacking in stage presence, the band employ as much crowd participation as they can get away with, working them into a dancing frenzy. Sounding great, the vocals carry over well during their festival set and the songs are enough to win everybody over. Songs like Dying In Your Arms give clear reason to the hype. Some nice thrash sections churned out from classic flying V guitars and successful calls for all round devil horns make Trivium a band that reflects old school heavy metal, and yet are fresh and new sounding. At no point do they loose any intensity and finish off on a thundering textbook finish. review by Luke Seagrave
