Sedbergh Folkfest (formerly Dent Folk Festival) returns to the site near Sedbergh, under the Howgill Fells for 2011.

A weekend of family fun set in a beautiful location on the the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, east of Kendal in the south east corner of Cumbria, taking place from Friday 24th until Sunday 26th June 2011. The festival site is expected to open from 6.30pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday and Sunday. The festival site will close at 6.30pm on Sunday - although with a new site these times could be revised.

Line-up

Judy Collins will headline this year's festival along with Altan, The Eliza Carthy Band, Ska Cubano and 3 Daft Monkeys. Joining them in the main marquee will be Martin Simpson, The FOS Brothers, Andy Irvine, Hans Theesink, Ben Paley & Tab Hunter, Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts, The Hut People, Chuck Brodsky, Blackbeards Tea Party, and Tony Wilson.

Tickets

A full weekend adult ticket (all main marquee concerts) is priced at £70 (£60 for the first 50) with youth (aged 11-17 years) £45. Under 11's are free for all events and camping. Day tickets are priced as follows:

Saturday Night and Sunday Night's concerts are standing room only All other concerts in the main marquee are all unreserved seating.

Facilities

Several events are traditionally held in a Festival Marquee (including a late night ceilidh). There's expected to be a beer tent, and a wide variety of events take place (many free) such as workshops, kids' activities, puppetry, film, street theatre, storytelling, and dance and music sessions.

There will also be children's songs, stories, puppets, street theatre and crafts. Music in the The Beer Tent with guests of the festival.

Camping

Camping tickets (Fri, Sat, Sun night) are priced at £18 for adults, and £10 for Youth 11-17 years. Camping must be booked in advance as camping tickets will not be available over the weekend itself. Caravans and campervans are welcome at no extra cost.

Camping will be basic but comfortable with regularly cleaned portaloo toilets, water supply, rubbish collection points and a couple of hot showers. Both the toilets and the showers will have disabled access. Parking will be next to tents, weather permitting. There will be baby changing facilities on site. There will be no electric hook ups or chemical waste disposal. The camp-site will open at 1:00pm on the Friday and every one needs to be of site by 1:00pm on the Monday.

Sky Lanterns

'Sky Lanterns' are banned from the site as they are a major fire risk and endanger local livestock.
