Staged on open fields on the north edge of Dartmoor with panoramic views of the surrounding area, there's a main stage, a performance marquee and other entertainment, including a Pirate Ship for kids, Stilt Walkers and Face Painters etc around the site.

Chagstock is a family friendly festival, suitable for young and not so young alike, with no focus on any particular music genre, but offering a blend of music to suit a wide range of tastes.

The dates for 2009 are confirmed as Friday 17th and Saturday 18th July, with the beer tent open along with the acoustic marquee on the Friday.

Acts confirmed so far include Squeeze as the headliner, with Seth Lakeman (solo) headlining the Acoustic Stage. Other confirmed acts include John Otway, The Bad Shepherds (Ade Edmondson's new band), 3 Daft Monkeys, Dastards, The Lost Mules, Ella Edmondson, Callaghan, Alex Hart, No Crisis, as well as flamenco dancers Bettina & Lucia, and the Okehampton College Choir.

The idea behind the festival is to give some local bands the opportunity to play at such an event as well as booking well known acts. It will be a mixture of styles from Rock to Drum & Bass to Folk and Blues plus whatever else they can find. They'll be a main stage, plus acts performing in a marquee between main stage acts.

Numbers will be limited to 5,000 to provide a fun but chilled atmosphere in a cosy, relaxed venue for all age groups.

Camping will be separate from parking, and will include a family camping area, and the usual festival rules will apply (no pets, campfires, fireworks etc). There are facilities available such as plentiful toilets, water, first aid etc.

There will be a licensed beer tent, selling Chagstock Ale brewed by O'Hanlon's plus one of their standard session beers like Yellow Hammer. There will be a bigger choice of caterers with more of a local influence and there are plans to have a 'Taste Of The West' type market. Festival goers will therefore be unable to bring their own alcohol or food into the main arena area.

An adult full weekend ticket is priced at £45, a child (4-15 years) ticket for the whole festival is priced at £25, and a family 2 adults + 2 children is priced at £115, children 3 and under are free. Day tickets are also available. Tickets will be available at the gate on both days subject to availability. To buy tickets, click here.

More information will be here when available.
