Boss Sounds Festival is back as the Red Stripe Boss Sounds Festival after the Jumpin' Hot Club secured a deal with the Jamaican brewer. This year the event takes place on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 June 2009 is being held at Cluny and Cluny 2, Tyneside Cinema, and World Headquarters in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Headlining this year's festival will be Freddie McGregor (21st June) and Derrick Morgan with Owen Gray (20th June). For this year's festival the organisers are taking over the whole of the Cluny building with the main venue and Cluny 2 being called into action.

Other festival highlights include Ska'd for Life DJs and Diddley Squat MC Ishu, and the Emperors Dentist plus as ever the After-show party at World Headquarters.

This year's festival will also feature for the first time outside Jamaica, 'The Reggae Film Festival' which will see some of the greatest reggae films ever made screened at the Tyneside Cinema. Highlights include 'Heartland Reggae' which documented Bob Marley's One Love concert and 'Rico, the Legacy' which captures the trombone players life, tracking his time with The Specials and Bob Marley.

Tickets will be on sale in advance for the two main shows.

Over the weekend expect to see other activities around the festival and venues. These include Jamaican food nights at local cafes. Reggae stalls and Caribbean catering make the two day event a festival special and the after show party till 4am at World Headquarters.

More information will be here when available.
