The new home of traditional metal rock music, with exclusive performances, and three stages.

The fifth Bloodstock Open Air festival will take place from Friday 14th until Sunday 16th August. The aim is to offer a traditional metal event comparable to those regularly seen in Europe (but on a smaller scale of 6,000-10,000 capacity), and capturing the spirit of the original Monsters Of Rock shows which used to take place at Castle Donington during the 1980's and 1990's.

There acts confirmed for 2009 include exclusive UK performances by Carcass, Arch Enemy (both Fri headliners) Blind Guardian, Cradle Of Filth (both Sat headliners) and Europe (Sun headliners). The bill also includes Entombed, Sabaton, Enslaved, and Turisas, plus Amon Amarth, Saxon, The Haunted, Girlschool, Katatonia, Candlemass, Satyricon, and more. Expect Bloodstock to provide a full line-up of established and unsigned metal bands. For the line-up details, days and stage splits as available please click here.

As well as the international heavy metal bands across three stages, Bloodstock offers a large selection of merchandise stalls, metal karaoke, a campsite and a wide selection of food and bars. Bloodstock have announced that their 3rd Stage will be renamed 'The Sophie Lancaster Stage' for 2009.

Tickets are on sale priced at £95 for adults and £44.95 for children (purchase kids tickets on official website). Day tickets are priced at £45. To buy tickets, click here.

Other entertainment on site include The Fuel Girls performers from the rock, metal and extreme sports scene with a wild fire and whiskey fuelled stage show, and an arena show, with a fire spitting buggy, bikes, cars, quads and t-shirt cannons. Doc Insane will also be bringing his controversial live show to the fields of Derby. Bloodstock Festival-goers will have the chance to meet the Vikings and see combat up close, as Vikings mingle with the crowd and challenge each other to personal duels of honour. The Vikings are a Dark Age Re-enactment society with hundreds of members across the country whose aim is to bring the past back to life. They will be representing raiders and traders from across the Viking world, from Constantinople on the Black Sea to Iceland, from Scandinavia and the British Isles.

More information will be here when available.
