One of the leading indoor underground music events BLOC weekend is three days of independent electronic music, held this year at Butlins Resort, Minehead, Somerset.
Re-configured for the new venue the event promises a more powerful line-up with something like 60+ international acts. A number of acts are confirmed, including Aphex Twin, DJ QBert, The Future Sound of London, Lee Scratch Perry, Carl Craig, Mad Professor, Zion Train, Rob Da Bank, Jamie Lidell, Afika Bambaata, Beardyman, Modeselektor, and Frequency 7 (Ben Sims v Surgeon). There's self-catered, heated chalet accommodation on site, with ensuite and equipped with beds, kitchen, showers, and all mod cons. Butlins Minehead looks out across a sandy beach. The site is equipped with a supermarket, newsagent, cash points and restaurants.
The Sunday of BLOC will be celebrating the 1980's hypersleaze of all things Miami and chance to fancy dress with the theme 'Miami Vice', and will be set to a synthelicious soundtrack of the most out-there disco trax with IF [italo set], Ed DMX, Metro Area, Alexander Robotnick, and Cocadisco.
Onsite facilities include a Splash Water World - a sub-tropical environment that has a wave pool, a swimming pool, 3 flumes and also a flume based raft ride, plus ten-pin bowling and amusement arcade. Sports include archery, football, basketball, darts, petanque, fencing, kwik cricket, netball, rounders, table tennis, outdoor bowls and crazy golf.
Tickets have sold out and were priced at £125 per person and bookings are done per chalet. Tickets have to be bought in groups of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 according to the size of the apartment wanted. 'Self-Catering' apartments have a kitchen and a separate living room, and 'Room-Only' apartments do not.
Shuttle Buses
Coaches will be departing from Taunton Station on an hourly basis on Friday 13th from 2pm until 11pm, tickets are priced at £6 per person. There will also be a return service departing Resort at 7.30am until 10am on Monday 16th March, this transfer is also priced at £6 per person. Return tickets are available priced at £10 per person.
