Already announced for 2012, The Big Session moves to its new home at Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, South Derbyshire, from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th June 2012.

Line-up

The line-up includes internationally renowned artists and many of the best up-and-coming performers and live bands.

Friday
Oysterband, Chumbawamba, Chris Wood, Merry Hell, Lucy Ward, Anna Elias & the Forlorn Hope, and More Like Trees.

Saturday
DJ Peter Lawrence, Eddi Reader, Treacherous Orchestra, Martin Simpson Band, Dizraeli and the Small Gods, Kris Drever, Sam Beeton, Jonny Kearney & Lucy Farrell, Walsh & Pound, Chris Tye, The Leisure Society, Jesca Hoop, The Magic Tombolinos, Kami Thompson, Jake Morley, Paper Aeroplanes, and Abandoman.

As well as great music there's comedy from Abandoman, and Gavin Osborn.

The Big Session embraces the artists and the audience in an informal atmosphere of big shows, small gatherings and unique collaborations, always with music, tasty food & drink, stunning vistas and great company at its heart. Beyond the music the Big Session prides itself on great family engagement. "The Orchard" space provides hands on activities, workshops, builds, music and entertainment for the whole family on an idyllic setting in the English countryside.

Tickets

An adult ticket (aged 16+) is priced at £87 or £102 with camping, a child ticket for those aged 5-15 years are priced at £30. Children under 5 years old are free.

Concessionary tickets are available for over 60s, those receiving Job Seekers Allowance and Full Time Students. Please Note that proof of eligibility will be requested on entry to the Festival, these are priced at £75 or £90 with camping.

Day tickets are also available priced as follows:
Friday - Adult £30 Child (5 to 15) £10
Saturday or Sunday - Adult £37.50 Child (5 to 15) £15

The Orchard

The family area will be home to much activity and quiet creativity. There's lots of chances to cut, stick, paint and create, or join the circus, learn to play an instrument, sing a song, or join in the 'BIg build' for an hour or two. On Saturday night there will be a Fire Show from resident Circus team 'Trick Swap'. Each day will start with a gentle stretch of either body or vocal chords at the BIG Stretch and BIG Sing open morning sessions.

Plus there will be all kinds of stuff 'Out & About' on the Festival site, like Thingumagig Theatre, clown Fraser Hooper and the Scupture Village by Craft Times.

Camping

The Big Session campsite opens at 9am on Friday 15 June 2012 with music and family events from mid afternoon. Festival goers are asked to be off of the site by 12noon on Monday 18th June 2012. A Weekend ticket covers the whole festival but camping is extra. A Day ticket is for a specific day with Friday being a bit less as the music starts a bit later.
