The BASS (British Art and Street Sounds) Festival starts on Thursday 4th June and runs throughout the month with twenty five events due to take place in cities across the Midlands, and London.

The line-up includes Kenyan artist Opiyo Okach who will open this year's festival with a dance piece, premiering for the first time in the UK. Other confirmed acts include The Shrine vs Noferatu (Rita Ray and Max Reinhardt), Louis Den Mama Feel Good, Beat Cypher, Black Thought, Evoke, Charlie Dark, Sway, Ethel Cee, Tony Allen, Dele Sosimi, Breis, Oddisse, Baby J, Kelakovski, SpaceK, Mystro and Yungun.

Billed as an annual celebration of British Art and Street Sounds, taking place for the fourth consecutive year, BASS (British Arts and Street Sounds) Festival 2009 will explore the inspiration of 'Africa and Africans' on the arts and culture scene. Plus a host of events ranging from masterclasses and workshops to exhibitions and installations as well as theatre, and dance performances.

In 2009 the festival will work with mainstream and grassroots organisations to deliver a range of new commissions, live performances, art exhibitions, dance and theatre performances, film screenings, and master classes as part of the festival.

  3. Closing date for receipt of entries is 9a.m. Thursday 28th May 2009. The winner's name, and the results, will be announced on this webpage soon after. The winner will also be informed via email.
