Combining music, comedy, art, cinema, magic, The Apple Cart is a diverse festival that welcomes everyone to it's kaleidoscopic, colourful playground, designed to bring out the kid that's hidden in us all.

Family and kids stuff

The House Of Fairy Tales established by the artists Deborah Curtis and Gavin Turk, is a child-centred artist led project which draws on an extensive team of artists, performers, writers, educationalists, designers, musicians, film makers, dreamers and philosophers to create magical, parallel worlds where learning is play and play is directed learning. The House Of Fairy Tales is about making education inclusive, inventive and fun.

The comedy

Tim Minchin, Abandoman, Doc Brown, Jon Richardson, Marcus Brigstocke, Paul Chowdry, and Simon Evans on a full days programme of comedy.

The magic

The Apple Cart will host a stage curated by members of the renowned magicians club The Magic Circle, who will provide a host of other worldly entertainment and magic for kids. The line-up includes Max Somerset from hit children's TV show The Sorcerer's Apprentice, David Weeks, Dov Citron, Foxy the Funky Magic Genie, James Fortune, Just George, Oliver Tabor, and Richard Pinner on the daytime bill.

The Art Car Boot Fair

The Art Car Boot Fair breaks out of its Brick Lane car park and heads to Victoria Park for The Apple Cart to create a bespoke fete-in-festival. As well as being able to pick up art works and art wares from the boots of classic cars, Apple Carters will also be able to get involved in all manner of artist led frivolities, create their own art, become a human snow-shaker, play boules in a chinashop, find out what the future may bring from My Big Fat Gypsy Fortune Teller and have a sing-a-long with the fabulous and famed Bethnal Green Working Men's Club Karaoke set.

On site

The acclaimed Venn Street Market, a local street market from Clapham Common, will host a whole array of delights at The Apple Cart including a Hog Roast from Clapham butcher Moen & Sons; Portena's traditional Argentine Empanadas and Chipa Cheese dough balls with Chimichurri Sauce, Yam the Cassava's authentic Creole Fish Cakes and Banana Fritters; Popina's and Sweet's freshly baked artisan sweet and savoury pastries, cakes and other treats; Vietnamese coffee from Ca Phe VN – and The Coconut King will be bringing fresh coconuts to eat and drink all day long.

The Apple Cart festival will host a children's book sale to raise funds for Book Aid International. The event will also have the Penguin Books Glade offering readings for all ages, interactive events involving ukuleles, a library and more.
